Final week, Nevada Humanities employees traveled to Windfall, Rhode Island to attend the 2024 Nationwide Humanities Convention, which occurred from November 13 to November 17. This annual gathering was collectively produced by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Nationwide Humanities Alliance. Rhode Island Humanities served as this 12 months’s convention host.
The week started with a pre-conference convening of employees members from humanities councils throughout the nation. We toured two historic homes in Windfall and discovered about their missions and associated applications. The Lippitt Home Museum, run by Protect Rhode Island, showcased their revolutionary programming for English-language learners and new immigrants within the Windfall space. The Grime Palace is a feminist artist-run nonprofit group who spent two years renovating The Marriage ceremony Cake Home – an deserted house that has now been remodeled right into a vibrant hub for native and visiting artists.
